Break ke Baad is an attempt by the first time director Danish Aslam under the production of Kunal Kohli. The story is about two childhood friends, Abhay Gulati (Imran Khan) and Aaliya (Deepik Padukone). Their childhood friendship slowly turns into love.
Aaliya is an ambitious girl, and wants to become an actress one day. And that Aaliya is capable to do anything to fulfill her desire. While Abhay is still confused with his life and is almost aimless about what to do for the sake of progress. Abhay being madly in love with Aaliya, helps her to chase her dreams.
Abhay becomes upset when one day Aaliya decides to go to Australia for studies. This is when Aaliya convinces Abhay that their relationship needs a break. Abhay agrees but still fears that he may lose Aaliya. Abhay then follows Aaliya to Australia, which upsets Aaliya a lot and this is when Aaliya decides to end the relationship.
Abhay then some how succeeds in the convincing game to get back Aaliya to his life. The story thus narrates about how relationships break due to small matters and how couples do survive after having faced the toughest of situations.
